This course is for a salaried trainee position, you must have the agreement from a school for full support of your teacher training prior to application. The primary non salaried course code is 2ZK7.
Our programme will equip you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to work in the classroom, inspiring and empowering young people to achieve their full potential and become life-long learners.
A typical week will mean that you spend 4 days on placement within your supporting school, with one day a week in the purpose built learning centre, or within another local school, for training provided by Teach East. You will be motivated by your fully trained Teach East mentors, who will inspire and guide you to become an excellent practitioner ready to seek employment within a local school.
The supporting school must agree to pay you on at least Point 1 of the Unqualified Teacher Scale for the duration of your training.
Your main placement will be in your supporting school but you will also have a half term in a contrasting school and Key Stage.
Training is delivered at our dedicated training centre at Arthur Mellows Village College in Glinton, Peterborough. During these sessions experienced teachers will cover a wide range of topics from behaviour management to planning and assessment, giving you the skills and knowledge needed to become a great teacher. The highly interactive sessions provide you with a variety of ideas and resources you can use the very next week in your placement school.
Trainees will have access to Masters Credits, through accessing the PGCert qualification from the University of Hull. This will support your academic and professional reflection and the theoretical underpinning of educational practice.
