It may also allow you to teach overseas, though you should always check what qualifications are needed in the country you’d like to teach in.

About the course
Trainees on the SCITT route will be in a classroom supported by experienced colleagues. You will also be appointed a mentor with whom you will meet at least once a week. The mentor and class teacher are often the same person.
The course is full time with a series of training sessions and workshops covering all aspects of teaching the Primary curriculum subjects, which compliments the in school experience provided. The training sessions will be led by expert practitioners, some of whom work in our excellent partner schools. They will support you to develop your knowledge, skills and understanding of teaching lessons effectively in a primary school.
Subject to COVID-19 Government Regulations:- As part of the programme trainees will have placements in two educational settings. As the year progresses trainees will spend an increasing amount of time in school and by the summer term will be based at their placement school full time. Trainees will spend some time in a special school and have focus days to enhance their expertise and understanding of SEND.
A programme of continuous formative assessment of trainees’ subject knowledge and ability to teach, as recorded within the portfolio, culminates in a rigorous assessment of the Teachers’ Standards for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) as specified by the Department for Education (DfE). As an accredited provider, the partnership recommends trainees, on successful completion of their training programme for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Trainees will also study for a PGCE alongside the QTS.
School placements
Subject to COVID-19 Government Regulations:- Trainees will have two school placements in addition to other placement visits during the programme and will be supported by mentors and SAF ITT, trainees will also spend time in a special school.
The focus of your training can be in either Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 1 and 2. Successful candidates can discuss this with the training provider. Please contact the office for further information.
Trainees will be allocated a school taking into account their geographical location and individual needs.
Interview process
Please Note:- During the COVID-19 pandemic interview will take place online using Teams until further notice.
Further information will be forwarded to candidates invited to interview to enable them to prepare.
