You will spend the equivalent of 2 days per week in your first placement school. On Thursdays you will attend a morning training session, usually at Bromfords School, covering General Professional Studies (GPS), eg behaviour management, planning and assessment. In the afternoon, you will focus on your subject with your peers discussing pedagogy and sharing best practices.
In your placement school, you will receive 1 mentor meeting per fortnight.
You will spend the equivalent of 3 days per week in your second placement school, including a weekly tutorial covering GPS. You will receive 1 mentor session per fortnight.
You would be matched specifically to a school to ensure an appropriate timetable can be created to allow you to demonstrate progress over time. We know our school mentors very well and try to match our trainees with their mentor to build a strong professional relationship.
You would need to attend parents’ evenings for classes you teach, and proportionate attendance at school training days will be required. You would need to have experience of form tutoring in at least one of the years.
If you wish to nominate a school, we will be pleased to talk to the Headteacher about our programme.
You will be teaching across the age range 11-16.
In addition, we provide experiences at special schools, pupil referral units, and alternative educational settings.
Schools play such an important part in the programme, and that’s why we can provide you with an outstanding foundation on which to build your future career.
