This Religious Education course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). You will train across the 11-16 age range.

Our curriculum aims to ensure all trainees have the knowledge, skills, and experience to become highly employable inspirational teachers, who promote aspiration, build positive working relationships and a desire for future development.
Trainees spend four days per week on placement in our partnership schools. In addition, trainees will attend SCITT based Training one day a week.
Bespoke training is centred around subject, age phase and classroom-based practice and is designed and adapted to meet the needs of our trainees. Ofsted stated “Trainees are well prepare to teach their subject” (Ofsted 2022)
SCITT based training sessions consist of lectures, seminars, tutorials, micro-teaching environments and observations of teaching in school. This is very much a practical course, where trainees learn by doing.
High quality training is delivered by school-based experts in a range of schools across the city of Bradford and beyond.
Our curriculum is delivered sequentially and effectively, leading to outstanding experiences for our trainees in preparation for their early career. Training delivery is supported by current research from The Centre for Applied Education Research (CAER).
Trainees are supported by expert mentors in school who: model good practice, offer guidance and support with planning and delivery and give regular feedback. Ofsted stated “mentoring if of a high standard”.

Assessment is ongoing and is carried out across both placement schools. As Ofsted stated, “leaders have designed and implemented an impressive range of strategies to ensure that trainees are assessed accurately. Leaders and mentors are then able to assess what trainees have understood and, when needed, put in extra support or training”.
At the end of the course trainees will be assessed against the Teacher Standards to gain their QTS.
