A postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) with qualified teacher status (QTS) will allow you to teach in state schools in England and may allow you to teach in other parts of the UK.

It may also allow you to teach overseas, though you should always check what qualifications are needed in the country you’d like to teach in.

Many PGCE courses include credits that count toward a Master’s degree.

About the course

This course allows trainees to have experience teaching secondary English in two school locations. There are two placements that run from Sept-Dec and Jan-June.

Throughout the course, training will be held at Cleeve training hub on Fridays.

Qualifications needed

We require English trainees to have a relevant degree with a suitable amount of English specialism. You can contact us to discuss specific degree qualifications if needed.

We are looking for enthusiastic trainees with a passion for working with young people and to give them the very best opportunities. Effective trainees are reflective and work well in teams .

Fees and financial support

The course fees for UK students in 2021 to 2022 are £9,250.

Interview process

On interview, candidates will be required to teach a 25 minute teaching episode or ‘micro lesson’ with a small group of Key Stage 3 students. This is followed by a panel interview with representatives from the school and University of Gloucestershire
