This fantastic PGCE course with a Secondary focus, will allow you to specialise in teaching History from Year 7 up to Year 13.
You will experience two placements within our partner schools alongside specialist training at our brand new Cleeve Training Hub facility, where you will cover up-to-date relevant educational issues, useful teaching and learning strategies and be given time for reflection and research. If you are shortlisted for interview, you will be contacted by the University of Worcester to conduct an online interview with both the University and Cleeve Training Hub.

About the training provider
We are an exciting and forward-thinking secondary school based in North Cheltenham within easy access from Worcestershire and Warwickshire. We are a large and well-resourced campus with a range of modern facilities including a multi-million pound Sixth Form Centre of excellence and a newly opened purpose built training centre where we base our Schools Direct course.
We have a dynamic and high-performing staff at Cleeve who hold training and teaching and learning at the very heart of what we do. This enables us to offer a course which is facilitated by a range of highly qualified and passionate professionals.
We are proud of the close relationships we hold with our partner schools across Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. Each school is individual and provides a different experience, but we believe strongly that we all hold the same ethos of putting student achievement and opportunity first and have an unswerving belief in opportunities for all.
About the accredited body
We are extremely excited to be working with the University of Worcester, as they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, and an additional range of brilliant courses.
This valuable partnership opens up a range of opportunities and diverse experiences for our trainees.
International candidates
You’ll need the right to study in the UK. You already have this if, for example, you:
- are an Irish citizen
- have settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme (you may still be able to apply)
- have indefinite leave to remain in the UK
If you do not already have the right to study in the UK, you may need to apply for a visa. The main visa for fee-paying courses (those that you have to pay for) is the Student visa.
To apply for a Student visa, you’ll need to be sponsored by your training provider.
Sponsorship is not available for this course.
If you need a visa, filter your course search to find courses with visa sponsorship.
Alternatively, check if you’re eligible for a different type of visa, such as a Graduate or Family visa, that allows you to train to be a teacher without being sponsored.

International qualifications
If your qualifications come from a non-UK institution, we may want to see a ‘statement of comparability’ from UK ENIC. This will show us how they compare to UK qualifications.
You can call Get Into Teaching on 0800 389 2500 for:
- guidance on the UK equivalents of your qualifications
- a free statement of comparability once you’ve submitted your application (if we ask you for this)
Training with disabilities and other needs
We are an inclusive institution believing in opportunities for all and pride ourselves on our high expectations of all stakeholders and this applies absolutely to our trainees. We work hard to personalise our course to meet the needs of all our trainees whether it is to differentiate for those who have varying experiences of education or to adapt the learning to ensure that those with disabilities are able not only to access our course but to thrive during their training.
