PGCE with QTS
A postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) with qualified teacher status (QTS) will allow you to teach in state schools in England and may allow you to teach in other parts of the UK.
It may also allow you to teach overseas, though you should always check what qualifications are needed in the country you’d like to teach in.

About the course
This Schools Direct Teacher Training course is deliberately arranged so that your “hands-on” experience in the classroom, always under the close supervision and guidance of an experienced teacher, is complemented by the input from the University of Winchester plus Professional Development days across the consortium to contextualize and inform what you are experiencing in the classroom setting on a weekly basis.
School placements
You will be placed at a “home-school” where you will base yourself Monday to Thursday, for most of the academic training year. Between January and February half term (broadly) you will be placed in a second, ideally contrasting, school for Monday to Thursday. Fridays are set aside for University or Consortium training and reflection days.
