Following a School Direct Secondary Mathematics route of Initial Teacher Training provides you with the practical training and theoretical knowledge required to become an outstanding Mathematics teacher.
Compared with non-School Direct teacher trainees, you will benefit from additional time in school, spending 25 weeks experiencing and working in different educational contexts.
At The Radclyffe School we are committed to giving Initial Teacher Trainees a wide range of professional development opportunities. As such, we organise a relevant and varied Professional Studies programme which is tailored to your stage of development throughout the academic year.
Sessions focus on topics such as behaviour management strategies, outstanding learning and teaching, using school data to boost performance, stretching the most able, supporting students with Special Educational Needs and high quality feedback and assessment for learning.
In addition, you will take part in a student track activity at the start of the year so you can gain experience of a wide range of teaching across the school. You will also observe outstanding lessons, our experienced staff and Excellent Teachers, Advanced Skills Teachers and Lead Practitioners and take part in additional and bespoke New Staff professional development training throughout the year.
Our Science Faculty is a complementary mix of colleagues within a diverse team of experienced staff, NQTs and RQTs, with each member of the team bringing their own individual personality and a wealth of knowledge and skills.
