EoE Teacher training is a specialist primary training provider who works with a large number of schools in Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire to offer high quality Initial Teacher Training.
EoE Teacher Training’s courses lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS); you can also gain a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). You can choose to train within the 3-7 or 5-11 age range, and you will learn from a range of experienced, outstanding practitioners.
You’ll spend on average four days per week in your school placement, from within our local partnership of schools. In addition, you will join the rest of your cohort on average one day per week for training with EoE Teacher Training in Lincoln. You will start with your ‘host school’ in September, and remain with them until the end of the course in July, except for when you undertake a contrasting 6 week second school placement within our partnership. We can GUARANTEE that all your school placements will take place within your local area - wherever this is.
Our curriculum has six areas, across three phases of competency:
Pedagogy and how children learn
Behaviour management and relationships
Adaptive teaching strategies
Assessment of pupils
Subject knowledge and curriculum
You’ll receive regular formative feedback through lesson observations, weekly mentor meetings, visits from EoE staff, professional learning conversations and support from your class based mentor.
Your class based mentor will support you daily, and you will also undertake visits and support from your quality assurance tutor. In addition, EoE staff will provide pastoral, academic and professional support.
We will be able to award QTS at the end of the course, if trainees meet our curriculum statements and demonstrate the necessary competencies.
The PGCE is an academic qualification assessed through two 5,000 word assignments. This is awarded by The University of Hull who will visit our training venues in Lincoln to deliver sessions to you; you don’t need to travel to Hull.
Salaried applicants must already have the support of a school before they apply. Year group availability is dependent upon the employing school.
There are no general vacancies for salaried placements at this time.
As the course is school based you will have 2 placements; your host school, and a 6 week second school placement. We follow the ‘ABA’ model, meaning you start in your host school, complete your second school visit and then return to your host school.
EoE Teacher Training will ensure your second school placement is located within your locality.
Whilst the course is a Primary course, you will have the choice of choosing to specialise in 3-7 years (EYFS main placement & KS1 second placement) or 5-11 years (KS1&2). Your school teaching experiences will take place within this chosen age range.
An undergraduate degree, or equivalent.
Grade 4 (C) or above in English, maths and science, or equivalent qualification.
We’ll consider candidates with pending GCSEs.
We’ll consider candidates who need to take a GCSE equivalency test in English, maths or science.
We are looking for passionate, exceptional individuals who want to truly inspire future generations. Our trainees spend on average 40 more days in the classroom than other University based routes, meaning you are better prepared for your ECT years. If you are an ambitious, creative learner and want to discover your true potential to be an inspirational primary teacher then you are the person for us!
EoE Teacher Training is committed to safeguarding children and will follow safer recruitment policies. Therefore successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS and other safeguarding checks.
Please be aware that central training is in Lincoln, so if you live outside of this region you will need to travel to training. However, we do encourage trainees to car share where possible to save costs.
Salaried trainees will be paid at Unqualified Pay Scale 1 in a maintained school. Academies will pay at the advertised rate which you will be made aware of at interview.
Course fees may be covered by your school however you may have to pay towards these.
If you opt to complete the PGCE element of the course, please be advised that your school are not likely to cover the additional cost of this (£950) and it would therefore be for you to fund this. As a salaried trainee you are not eligible for student finance funding.

As a result of this, our trainees always feel well prepared as they enter the profession and our employment rates are high. We will guarantee that each of your placements will be in your local area, as having a work life balance and time with your family matters to us.
Our partnership is diverse and can offer you many different experiences: working in small rural primary schools, large inner city primary schools and junior and infant schools. About the accredited body
East of England Teacher Training is a SCITT consisting of a group of experienced educational professionals who lead high quality, school based Teacher Training, leading to the award of QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), with a PGCE (optional).
They are passionate about what they do and about making a difference to the lives of the children within our schools. The SCITT is ‘highly ambitious and is driven to ensure ‘high-quality local teachers that teach successfully within local schools’. (Ofsted 2018)
We offer a free ‘checking’ service, where we will give you feedback on your personal statement before you apply. Applications will be screened and suitable candidates will be shortlisted to attend an online interview .
If selected for an interview, we will provide you with full information regarding the interview process, so you feel confident and well informed to attend. The interview process will involve you planning a maths or English lesson, for any age range that you choose, which will be discussed with the panel as part of the interview.
You will be interviewed by a panel of two which may contain the Head of SCITT. Also on the panel will be either your headteacher or a member of SLT from the proposed employing school.
At the end of the interview we will phone you to discuss the interview and the outcome, as a supportive measure. If you are successful, you will be offered a conditional place which will be confirmed in writing. All trainees are set targets from the interview, to ensure they are fully ready to start the course.
You’ll need the right to work in the UK. You already have this if, for example, you:
guidance on the UK equivalents of your qualifications
a free statement of comparability once you’ve submitted your application (if we ask you for this)
Training with disabilities and other needs
We have a strong track record in successfully working with trainees with a wide range of disabilities and additional needs. During our Ofsted Inspection, one of the findings was that: ‘Leaders pay close and extensive attention to the welfare of trainees. They respond rapidly and effectually to those needing support’ (Ofsted 2018). After recruitment, we ask trainees to complete a ‘Fitness to Teach’ questionnaire which asks if any adjustments are required, we also require trainees to be assessed by an occupational health specialist. If appropriate, a ‘Wellbeing Plan’ will be created which is bespoke to the trainee’s needs; this will be regularly reviewed. We will then work closely with the trainee to make adjustments where we possibly can (for example, PowerPoint presentations in advance or printed on coloured paper). Declaring any disabilities will not disadvantage trainees and their application; we make any appropriate adjustments and make sure that trainees are placed in a supportive training environment.
We regularly ensure that these adjustments are maintained and re-assessed, to ensure that needs are continually met. Disability access and provision are in accordance with legal requirements in all our settings.
