About the training provider

Windsor Academy Trust (WAT) is a West Midlands based family of schools. We bring together four secondary schools and five primary academies.

Our academies are

Windsor High School and Sixth Form The Kingswinford School Great Wyrley Academy Cheslyn Hay Academy Goldsmith Primary Academy Rivers Primary Academy Manor Way Primary Academy Tenterfields Primary Academy Colley Lane Primary Academy

Our aim is to unlock the personal and academic potential in every child.

Windsor Academy Trust aims to improve the quality of educational provision through the sharing of ideas and best practice amongst its schools. Our teaching and learning development is firmly rooted in the latest evidence based research. Teachers at WAT are both consumers and producers of pedagogical research.

At WAT we combine a shared experience of primary and secondary schools and promote student and staff collaboration. This raises aspirations across our family of schools, united in their ethos and operation to achieve the very best for all students.

We work collectively to ensure that all our children achieve their full potential in a climate of high challenge for all, where teachers feel supported, motivated and empowered.

We give trainees an excellent first step in becoming a highly effective practitioner. Our training year provides a strong foundation to be developed and built upon in ECT years and beyond.

Interview process

Your interview will be held at either Windsor Academy Trust Central Office or at one of the schools within Windsor Academy Trust. You will be interviewed by a panel which will include a Lead Practitioner who works across the Trust in your subject area as well as a Faculty Director. The process will include an informal interview and introduction to Windsor Academy Trust, a mini lesson, a student panel interview, a written test and a formal interview.

You should allow a day for the interview

International candidates

You’ll need the right to study in the UK. You already have this if, for example, you:

  • are an Irish citizen
  • have settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme (you may still be able to apply)
  • have indefinite leave to remain in the UK

If you do not already have the right to study in the UK, you may need to apply for a visa. The main visa for fee-paying courses (those that you have to pay for) is the Student visa.

To apply for a Student visa, you’ll need to be sponsored by your training provider.

Sponsorship is not available for this course.

If you need a visa, filter your course search to find courses with visa sponsorship.

Alternatively, check if you’re eligible for a different type of visa, such as a Graduate or Family visa, that allows you to train to be a teacher without being sponsored.

International qualifications

If your qualifications come from a non-UK institution, we may want to see a ‘statement of comparability’ from UK ENIC. This will show us how they compare to UK qualifications.

You can call Get Into Teaching on 0800 389 2500 for:

  • guidance on the UK equivalents of your qualifications
  • a free statement of comparability once you’ve submitted your application (if we ask you for this)
