During the course you will be allocated a mentor who will carry out observations throughout your placements and will discuss your progress through weekly meetings.

During the year you will be assessed against the teacher training standards and a s et of fundamental Maths and English skills.

All academic aspects of the course will be delivered and assessed by Christchurch University

Interview process

If you are offered an interview following application this will be carried out by our School Direct Lead and in agreement with Christchurch.

During the interview there will be a short (approx 20minutes)observed interaction with a group of primary children with follow up questions. We always recognise that there will be candidates with a wide range of previous experience which may not include a great deal of work in a school, this will be taken into account. Although we would advise the candidates to have visited a school prior to application and interview. There will then be a 3O minute face to face interview.

How school placements work

Placement at one of our Primary Academies for the year September to July with incremental levels of responsibility from small groups to whole class teaching.

A 4 week block at an other Primary Academy in the Trust which usually takes place in January.

All trainees are given 20% non contact time plus 10% PPA along with release for professional development days at CCCU.
