The Colchester Teacher Training Consortium is an outstanding provider in all areas (Ofsted, Nov 2017), offering a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training Programme. Our strong partnership of schools and colleges in North Essex and South Suffolk provides diversity and choice for trainees. Our schools offer a wide range of educational experiences including grammar schools, sixth form colleges and specialist SEND placements.
As our programmes are run by schools for schools, we understand the needs of teachers in training. “A rich programme of training, combined with high quality complementary school placements equips trainees with the skills and knowledge to become successful, thoughtful teachers” (Ofsted 2017).
Our goal is to train outstanding teachers who are able to inspire children and young people to become resilient high achievers and lifelong learners. Trainees value the strong pastoral support and mentoring that they receive on an individualised programme. “[The course] is tailored to our needs, we are not just a number” (quoted by a trainee in the Ofsted 2017 report).
Our Primary and Secondary School Direct Programmes offer high quality training and support, leading to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), including credits at Masters level validated by the University of Greenwich.
We host events and taster days throughout the year, details are published on our website and on social media.
