The School Direct route offers trainees an extended Professional Practice placement in one main school (called a “Base School”), supplemented by an additional placement (half a term) in a contrasting school.
This ensures a varied and balanced experience of teaching in different settings, whilst allowing you to contribute significantly to the life of your Base School.
Minimum 2.2 degree or above
GCSE Level 4 (Grade C) or above in English and Maths
Ideally you’ll have studied Maths a related discipline.
If you have a good A-Level in this subject, you may still be considered by completing a Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) programme. Make sure you mention you would be willing to do this in your UCAS application.
You will have a work history (minimum of 2 years) and ideally have worked within an education setting.
We are looking for inspiring, knowledgeable and ambitious trainee teachers who are passionate and enthusiastic about their school phase and/or subject specialism and have a desire to share this and make a real difference to young people’s lives and futures.
Satisfactory clearance from the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service)
You will be paid on an Unqualified teacher 1 pay scale.
