PGCE with QTS
A postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) with qualified teacher status (QTS) allows you to
teach in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It’s also recognised internationally.
Many PGCE courses include credits that count toward a Master’s degree.

About the course
This course prepares you to teach Physics to pupils aged 11 to 18. You should consider this course if you want to contribute to young people’s development by enabling them to acquire a knowledge base in Physics as well as the skills associated with practical aspects of the subject.
On a personal level, you will develop a professional understanding of current issues in education along with the ability to effectively communicate and reflect upon your teaching.

The School Direct PGCE with QTS Teacher Trainees is run in collaboration with CHAT Academies (Cuckoo Hall Academies Trust) and the highly acclaimed University of Warwick (It’s Centre for Teacher Education is rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted for its ITT, Primary and Secondary training)
CHAT Academies has primary and secondary PGCE teacher trainee placements to offer for 2020-21. Some of these places will be taken up by CHAT with a proposal for some places to be offered to other rated good and outstanding schools in Cambridge and Central London.
You will be asked to attend the school in which you plan to train for interview/assessment. The process takes a couple of hours and includes a 30 minute numeracy/literacy task; 20-25 minute “micro-lesson” and formal interview, which is a requirement of University of Warwick.
The purpose of the micro-lesson is to see how you interact with students. The formal interview will be with a member of the Teaching School team, usually one of the Head Teachers and the Head of Department for whatever subject you are interested in teaching.
We provide an indication within 1 working day regarding the outcome of your interview. Warwick University will then make a conditional or unconditional offer once all checks are completed.
How school placements work
Trainees will be placed at CHAT Academies (4x Primary Academies: Woodpecker Hall Academy, Kingfisher Hall Academy, Enfield Heights Academy, Cuckoo Hall Academy and 1x Secondary Academy: Heron Hall Academy.
Trainees will also be offered places to other rated good and outstanding schools in Cambridge and Central London.
The University of Warwick PGCE with QTS, The Course fees would be paid by CHAT currently £2,000 which would include training for the trainee and mentor, whether based at CHAT, in Enfield, London, Cambridge or at Warwick.
CHAT or the host school would pay a salary, which is negotiable to each trainee it employs. CHAT School Direct Salaried trainees are currently paid a salary in addition to CHAT paying the fee of £2,000 PGCE with QTS course fee to Warwick University.
The School Direct Salaried route provides an employment-based option. It is ideal for graduates with extensive work experience, who have worked in a school or similar setting for some time. You will not be eligible for any Bursaries or Scholarships but you will receive a salary while you train.
Financial support isn’t available for this course because it comes with a salary.
If you choose a course without a salary, you may be eligible for financial support while you study, including bursaries, scholarships and loans.
If an applicant meets the pre-course criteria (5 x GCSE’s: English, Maths and Science at grade C or new grade 4 or higher) Degree at preferably 2:1 or above but negotiable for a strong candidate (Impressive Interview, lesson observation and response to the unseen written task) they will be interviewed and can be offered a conditional place.
There is no late entry to the course for any reason whatsoever.

About the training provider
We are part of CHAT Academies, established in 2010. CHAT currently runs 5 academies in North London, educating some 2,200 pupils. Growth plans will increase this to around 3,000 by 2020.
