About the course
Schools within our consortium require applicants to be able to offer two languages, from a choice of French, German or Spanish, in order to be accepted for training as a Modern Foreign Languages teacher. Trainees spend 4 days a week in school and 1 day a week at University.
School placements
Trainees will be based at their Host School for most of the year, undertaking a second 6 week placement, usually in the Spring Term. Teaching is likely to encompass all age ranges from 11-18.

Qualifications needed
GCSE in Maths and English at Grade C or above plus a relevant degree at 2:2 or above.
Salary
Unqualified teacher scale.

Hitchin Boys’ School is the Lead School for the North Herts Consortium of Schools for School Direct, comprising Hitchin Girls’ School, Fearnhill School, The Priory School, The Highfield School, Knights Templar School and The Meridian School. Vacancies advertised by Hitchin Boys’ School may be for placements at any of the schools in our consortium as links between the schools are very strong.
