Once we receive your application, we'll acknowledge by email and update UCAS if you are invited to interview. You will be asked to prepare a task to bring to your interview and should expect to undertake a written task on the day. You will also be asked to teach a small group of pupils for 20 minutes on a subject of your choice.
You will be invited to an interview by a small panel comprising the Deputy Head, School Direct Coordinator and a Kirklees and Calderdale SCITT representative.
You will be expected to answer a range of questions which are designed to explore your personal qualities, your potential as a teacher and to ensure you meet the course criteria.
You will need to bring to interview the original certificates for all qualifications and proof of identity as part of our Safeguarding processes.
You will be asked to complete a short exercise to demonstrate your ability to read effectively and communicate clearly and accurately in Standard English.
If you are successful at the interview you will be offered a place. You will usually be told where your main placement will be at that time, along with any specific additional conditions to your offer.
Before commencing the programme, you will sign a contract between you, the host school and the Partnership so that everyone agrees to the same supporting principal and requirements of your training year.
A criminal background check and all other requisite checks will be carried out.
