About the course

We’ll provide you with the highest-quality training and professional development through each stage of your career if you choose to stay with us. You will complete our flagship NQT programme in your second year. After this a whole host of professional development is available to you – including many bespoke programmes developed and delivered by outstanding teachers and leaders across ATLAS school

Interview process

This will determine your suitability to train to teach and assess your literacy and numeracy skills and subject knowledge.

The assessment process will include a presentation, panel interview, group task and a short teaching episode.

How school placements work

You will complete a 6 week placement in a second contrasting school during the Spring term.

Qualifications

For both Secondary and Primary teaching

To be eligible to apply, you will need a degree (with Honours) from a UK Higher Education institution, or an equivalent qualification in any subject. You will also have solid A levels and GCSEs including C or above in GCSE maths, English and a science.

Degree class

A 2:1 or above is preferable. However, we will be happy to consider your application if you have a 2:2 and can demonstrate strong academics in other areas i.e. A-levels and GCSEs and a real aptitude for teaching.

Atlas Teaching School is the teacher training and development arm of the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation, a family of 5 primary and 4 secondary schools in Southwark, Lewisham and Bexley.

The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation has been educating young people in this part of London since 1876 and has over 15 years’ experience of initial teacher training . About the accredited body

Tes Institute is a designated SCITT working in partnership with a number of schools in Essex, Greater London and Kent to deliver School Direct initial teacher training (ITT) through its Department for Education (DfE) accredited programme.

The aim of the School Direct programme is to provide high quality training in schools to prepare trainees for teaching in schools today.
