QTS (qualified teacher status) allows you to teach in state schools in England.

It may also allow you to teach in the EU, the EEA and Switzerland. You should check with the institution you’d like to teach in for confirmation. The status of QTS in these countries may change after the UK leaves the EU. Please check GOV.UK for updates.

To teach in the rest of the UK or internationally, you may wish to consider a ‘PGCE (or PGDE) with QTS’ qualification instead.

About the course

Primary 25WS (is the salaried route which gives you QTS only).

15 days of training will be at the University to gain your core understanding, the remaining 60hours will be a mix of independent study, training provided by your employing school and Swiss Cottage TSA.

The assessment process is the same as the PGCE programme, you will be assessed via classroom observations and an evidence portfolio. The evidence portfolio is how you have met the teaching standards throughout the years training.

Swiss Cottage TSA main focus on the training is about having an inclusion classroom whether you are in a SEND or mainstream setting.

Interview process

The interview process is a group interview. You will be invited to an interview, where head teachers from the alliance will assess you.

The selection process will consist of: · A group discussion; · Interview; · English and Maths skills audit · A pre - prepared presentation. The title of the presentation is sent out a few days before your interview.

If successful you will then be invited to a second interview at the employing school.

How school placements work

Your main school placement will be the school that employs you. You will spend the majority if your time in your main school. There will be a second school placement which is usually 6 - 8 weeks depending on the trainee. We usually set the second school placement for after Spring half term.

The placement has to be an alterative setting to your main school. We are a London based Alliance and have schools all over London, we will not expect trainees to travel for more than an hour.

Your salary will be on the unqualified teachers pay scale.

Your fees will be paid for by your employing school.
