Throughout the year you will mostly be based in your host school as a full-time member of teaching staff. You will undertake a 5-week long second placement at another school in the Spring Term. In addition, you will attend training at other schools and can experience teaching in a different phase or special school if desired.
Your host school for your training will be The Minster School, Southwell or The National C of E Academy, Hucknall (chosen by you as you apply).
The Minster School is a Church of England academy of around 1,600 students aged from 7-18. The school has been graded ‘Outstanding’ since 2011 by Ofsted and in its most recent SIAMs reports, with recent GCSE and A level results placing us among the top schools regionally.
In addition to academic success, our students access many enrichment visits and experiences. We are a rural school, hosted in new state-of-the-art accommodation, with approximately 70% of students coming from our catchment area, and 30% entering on foundation places. We are proud to work with hundreds of other schools through our work as a National Support School, Teaching School, Maths Hub and Music Hub.
Our school ethos is ‘Succeeding Together’ through our Christian values of wisdom, optimism, resilience, kindness and service, and this runs through all of our work. We have one of the largest Sixth Forms in Nottinghamshire and offer over 30 A Level subjects.
The National C of E Academy is an oversubscribed and vibrant hub of education for students aged 11-19 with over 1200 students on roll. As a faith academy our core values around Christianity underpin everything we do. We demand excellence and respect and in turn deliver a rich and diverse curriculum.
The National C of E Academy was recently graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted and has a team of well-trained and experienced staff to support your development. A bespoke programme of CPD will help you to learn about all aspects of the school, and through our many links with other schools you will enjoy opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in other primary and secondary schools.
