School placements

City Excellence is a school based ITE programme which offers you the experience of working within a thriving and successful inner-city context and the opportunity to teach in two or three of the cluster schools. You will complete placements in schools within our cluster. For secondary subject routes there are two placements which are of equal length. The school placements must be contrasting and there is a lot of diversity within our cluster of schools. One benefit of applying to train to teach through us is that you know that all of your placements will be within a pre-defined local area. This offers you security and means that you can research the schools in advance. You will experience teaching in different settings and will deepen your understanding of inner-city learning contexts. A large proportion of your training will be in classrooms. You will be mentored by subject specialists who are practising teachers in the schools as well as by experts from e-Qualitas. Our cluster includes primary and secondary schools and so there is an opportunity to teach for a short period in a different phase.
