Ivybridge Community College is a lead school for Teach South West within the South West Teaching School Alliance (SWTSA).
SWTSA are a partnership of high performing schools sharing our skills, experience, talent and capacity to help improve learning and achievement in schools across the South West.
Teach South West is our Initial Teaching Training branch of SWTSA and offers Primary and Secondary (11-16 with Post-16 enhancement) School Direct training placements in English, Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, History, French, Spanish, PE, RE and Primary . All our programmes (with the exception of Geography) are through an @Exeter model in partnership with The University of Exeter, delivered at The Graduate School of Education, St Luke’s Campus, Exeter.
We always endeavour to place Teach South West trainees in schools that are agreeable to their circumstances and offer a breadth of experience; promoting future employability, hopefully within our Alliance.
Teach South West trainees have access to high quality CPD available within the Teaching School and are supported in finding the right post for their NQT (newly qualified teacher) years following their PGCE year.

About the accredited body
Our Initial Teacher Training Partner is deemed ‘Outstanding’. Exeter University provide the pedagogy lectures for the PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) on School Direct Courses. We provide the teaching practice through placements in local schools and/or within our Teaching School Alliance.
As quoted from this recent Ofsted report; “The University’s long-established model addresses local, regional and national priorities exceptionally well. Leaders articulate a very strong vision for initial teacher training in the wider education system.”
Teach South West is very proud to work with Exeter University to recruit and train teachers to become outstanding practionners in the South West.
