PGCE with QTS

A postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) with qualified teacher status (QTS) will allow you to teach in state schools in England and may allow you to teach in other parts of the UK.

It may also allow you to teach overseas, though you should always check what qualifications are needed in the country you’d like to teach in.

Many PGCE courses include credits that count toward a Master’s degree.

About the training provider

Cheshire LTA was designated as a Teaching School in February 2013, the first Teaching School in Cheshire. We are a group of local schools and other strategic partners working together to deliver high quality training for teachers

Our School Direct Programme is an exciting school based training route for graduates interested in primary school teaching.

Working in partnership with the University of Chester we deliver Initial Teacher Training (ITT), leading to accreditation for the Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

We have an excellent reputation for delivering high quality innovative training by practioners within our Alliance and designated SLEs (Specialist Leaders of Education) ensuring our training is practical, relevant and up to date.

ELIGIBILITY

  • GCSE grade C/4 or above in English Language, Maths & a Science
  • UK undergraduate 2:2 degree or a recognised equivalent qualification

We understand the needs of our trainees, identify their strengths and ultimately help them go on to gain employment as a newly qualified teacher.

We want all our Associate Teachers to be successful, fulfilled professionals who can make a difference.

The course is non-salaried and tuition fees are paid to the University of Chester.
